One of the programs that we most like to offer to participants of Travel Work These are volunteer programs. These programs are specially designed to contribute to improving the world, in this case to help in the conservation of the Coral Reef or the Giant Tortoises of Maurice Island.
Volunteering on the Barrier Reef
With the help of a local NGO, the participants of Travel Work, will dedicate their efforts to helping conserve and restore the marine environment of Mauritius. Travelworkers will collaborate on conservation, research, education and awareness-raising projects.
Mauritius is a marine and aquatic paradise, and the participants of this programme will contribute to ensuring that it remains so in the future. To this end, they will be trained and informed about all the current projects being developed for the protection of the marine environment.
Volunteers of Travel Work They will help raise awareness among tourists in the area, conduct surveys, observe dolphins... and those with a diving license (level 2) will be able to participate in various marine recording projects and monitoring the health of corals.
Volunteering for turtle conservation
The travel workers will be closely linked to ecotourism departments where they will learn how to restore forests and reintroduce land tortoises. This project of ecosystem reconstruction and reintroduction of giant tortoises is being developed on an area of 20 hectares and the project was launched in 2005.
Volunteers will be required to help with turtle breeding (feeding, weighing, caring for them, etc.), management of the reforestation project, administrative work, preparing information sessions in schools, etc.
The two volunteer programs in Maurice Island These are highly recommended programs for anyone who wants to live a vital experience helping to conserve the environment. Participants must be great environmental enthusiasts, versatile and very willing.
