Paula doing an internship in Devon

A few months of internships in England

Hello Travel Work!

Once the experience is over I can now write to you in full!

The truth is that it has been great. The people, the atmosphere, what you learn, the family... Even though you may be scared or a bit scared before you arrive, it is worth it. Once there you see everything differently. My host family was Debra, a 45-year-old woman, and Sam, her son. Even though I had never imagined living with children or in that kind of environment, I have to say that I am very happy.

They have been a real charm to me. During my internship, I was in the graphic design department. I started out doing simple things (working all day in a language that is not your own, reading and translating everything, is exhausting at first!). But once I was ready, and so was my manager, I started doing more complicated things.
I have learned a lot and working with professionals like them is a real pleasure, they always help you and teach you new things.

As for the activities that your local office offers, I advise future students to go. The agency is a sweetheart, they look after you and worry about you. In addition, the activities allow you to meet other young people who are in your situation (on internships or working) and it is very worthwhile. The first day I arrived I already made a group of friends, who gave me a helping hand the second day and from the first weekend I was already making plans with them. The sad thing is when they leave… But thanks to WhatsApp and Facebook, we keep in touch 🙂

It's a really great experience, I would recommend it to anyone. I think it's the best decision I could have made at the time, both professionally and personally. You learn without realizing it.

I remember the first few weeks, when I was talking to my mother or friends I would say: 'ugh, I'll never be able to express myself properly!' And one day, without realising it, I found myself having a conversation in an English that didn't seem like my own!!

I have finally decided to stay. It was a tough decision, but I know it will be worth it, and although I haven't found a job in my field (yet), I'm going to start in a restaurant this Friday. The last few weeks I've been looking for a shared flat (although Debra offered me to stay, I wanted to be in a younger environment) and a job. And from the group of friends I made, there are 3 of us who are staying here for a while longer 🙂

Thank you very much for everything Eva and a big hug!

A hug!!!!
